  1. Hi Doug,

Can you describe how and how often you use this?

    Thanks,
    Martin

    1. I try to build up to 10 minutes without hanging on to anything. It's easier holding on to the mainsheet and wearing hiking pants but I feel that this defeats the purpose. Loud music helps!

  2. So how close are you to the 10 minutes. I got a friend of mine to build one to your spec (he made some minor adjustments, I'll try and get some pictures), but its a struggle to get much passed 1 minute in one go after about 3 weeks of using it in the morning 4-5 times a week.

Hiking in my laser doesn't seem to me near so hard, but that probably means that I'm doing it wrong!

Anyway thanks for this post, my bench is great!

    1. Right now, not very close! The whole point of this bench being hard is that your Laser/Torch will feel more comfortable. Glad you like the post.

  3. Thanks Doug for sharing... I make it and have a lot of fun. And now, the plan is on the Frech side of the world :)

    1. You are more than welcome. It's rare to hear that this bench is "fun." It's really hard on your legs but the training will make sailing in a breeze more fun for sure.

  4. Is my interpretation correct that the wood is 38mm x 140mm ??

  5. Dear Doug,
Do I understand correctly the wooden pieces are all 38x 140mm?
    Thanks,
    Duncan

    1. I've gone from imperial to metric in Canada, moved to Australia which was imperial and then metric, back to Canada and then the U.S. which is one of the last still using imperial. So with my U.S. hat on, I apologize for the imperial diagram.

A 2" by 6" is actually closer to 1.5" by 5.5" so I'm guessing the measurements are taken before the wood is trimmed. I do not know what sizes that you can buy, so I suggest you use Google to convert and then round up to make sure your butt is kept high enough!
